The new reichsmark was introduced as Germany's official currency in 1924. Coins were minted to the value of 1, 2, and 3 mark. That put an end to the nightmare of hyperinflation. And it also brought the change to a peacetime economy, which led to the legendary prosperity of the "Golden Twenties," which lasted until the New York stock exchange crash on Black Thursday 1929.
