This bill is one the first issues of the Continental government. It is worth 7 dollars. The so-called Continental currency came in odd denominations, at least for modern ears, ranging from a sixth dollar up to 85 dollars. These unusual denominations were necessary in an economy where no coined money was available and paper money thus had to be also used as change.
