The time between the First and the Second World War (1918-1939) was a epoch of constant economic difficulties for Yugoslavia. Gold coins like this ducat were rare and issued for international trade only. To guarantee for the purity of the gold, the Yugoslav Control Office for Noble Metals applied countermarks on the trade ducats. It can be found beneath the neck of King Alexander I (1921-1934) and shows an ear of corn.
