The French euro coins are minted at the 'Etablissement Monétaire de Pessac' near Bordeaux. They all show traditional motifs in new designs. The 1, 2 and 5-cent coins bear a 'nouvelle Marianne,' a 'new Marianne' who, like her predecessor, stands for republican values. The 10, 20 and 50-cent coins show a 'nouvelle semeuse,' the modernized sower. And on the 1 and 2 euro-coins stands the traditional 'tree of life,' a symbol for French nature, recreation and freedom.
