This denarius from the time around 80 BC depicts Apollo, the Greek god of light and healing, of prophecy and of art. In front of him are a lyre and a star, perhaps the ligated Roman numeral XVI as specification of the coin's value. The legend ROMA behind him refers to the mint of Rome, while Q. MAX (MA ligated) below refers to the moneyer Quintus Fabius Maximus.
The reverse depicts a cornucopia, a horn of plenty, and a thunderbolt, encircled by a wreath composed of an ear of barley, an ear of wheat and assorted fruit.
