These earrings are made from glass and known as 'dimbo' among the Papuan people. On the shores of Lake Sentani, dimbos are part of the bride price up to this day. The Papuans adopted them from the Malayans, with whom they traded already in ancient times.
The base products of dimbo are glass pearls and scraps of glass. Accordingly they are usually tarnished and blotched. Dimbos come in many different shades of green, but also in transparent glass and in other colors.
