The Thai mountain tribes adopted the tradition of working silver into jewelry and investing it as a form of wealth around 1000 AD. Each tribe had their own way of decorating their jewelry, which was made of almost pure silver. The price of each piece was not only determined by its intrinsic silver value, but also by the workmanship. This bangle is nicely ornamented on its surface and partly wrapped in silver wire, thus making it more precious.
