On July 29, 1981, the English heir apparent Charles married his fiancée Diana Spencer in the London St Paul's Cathedral. 3,500 guests attended the wedding in the church; another 750 million watched the spectacle on television. On the occasion of the marriage, the English royal house issued this medal. Its obverse depicts Queen Elizabeth II, while the reverse shows the bridal couple.
