In 1860, King Rama IV introduced modern coins and printing techniques in Siam, the modern Thailand. Since then, the Siamese tical was mostly called baht; 1 baht equaled 100 satang. Rama IX, whome we see on this coin, is currently (2015) the world's longest-serving head of state (since 1946).
